Plan your run, hit your goal time
Every runner eventually asks the same questions: how fast did I just run, what pace do I need to hit my goal time, and how far did I actually go? This running pace calculator answers all three. Use "Find pace" to turn a distance and time into your pace and speed, "Find finish time" to see how long a race will take at a target pace, or "Find distance" to work out how far you covered in a given time at a given pace.
Pace is the language of running. Instead of thinking in speed, runners aim for a number of minutes per kilometre or mile and hold it steady. The calculator shows both pace (min/km and min/mi) and speed (km/h and mph) so you can plan in whatever units your watch, treadmill or race uses, and a single toggle converts everything between metric and imperial at once. Race presets fill in the standard 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon distances instantly.
When you calculate a pace, the tool also predicts your finish times across the classic race distances using Riegel's endurance formula. If you know your 5K time, you can see a realistic target for the 10K, half and full marathon — assuming you train properly for the longer distance. The "Find finish time" mode adds per-kilometre or per-mile splits so you can build a race-day pacing plan and avoid going out too fast.
Pacing is one of the most important skills in distance running: hold an even, sustainable effort and you'll almost always beat a fast start that fades. Use the pace-zone guide to slot each run into easy, tempo, threshold or speed work, and revisit the calculator as you get fitter and your numbers improve. Everything runs privately in your browser, and the related calories burned and BMR tools help you fuel your training.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate running pace?
Pace is your time divided by distance, usually shown as minutes per kilometre or minutes per mile. In the 'Find pace' tab, enter the distance you ran and your total time, and the calculator shows your pace in both min/km and min/mi, along with your speed in km/h and mph. It's the quickest way to know exactly how fast you ran.
What's the difference between pace and speed?
Pace tells you how long it takes to cover one unit of distance (for example 5:30 per km), while speed tells you how much distance you cover in an hour (for example 10.9 km/h). Runners usually think in pace because it's easier to hold a target during a run; the calculator shows both so you can use whichever you prefer.
How does the finish-time prediction work?
When you calculate a pace, the tool predicts your finish times for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon using Riegel's formula, which scales a known time to other distances with an endurance factor. Predictions assume similar effort and proper training for the longer distance — they're a realistic target, not a guarantee.
Can I switch between kilometres and miles?
Yes. The km/miles toggle converts every distance, pace and speed figure on the page at once, so you can plan in whichever units you train in. Race presets for 5K, 10K, half marathon (21.1 km) and marathon (42.2 km) fill the distance for you in the selected unit.
Is my data private?
Yes. All calculations run entirely in your browser — your times and distances are never uploaded, stored or shared. Nothing leaves your device.
